Random

Wikipedia- teaching me more about gay porn than I knew before.

I'm thinking of reading through my manga collection alphabetically, to distract myself from my desire to buy volume two of Otomen...

A Great Rant

to great acclaim! And remember everyone! What is developmentally appropriate for an 11 year old will not be appropriate for a 2 year old or vice versa.

Otamen!

Darn you comic book guy! I thought getting a volume of Otamen for $1 was a great deal. But the mixture of gender bending fun[yes, I somehow can't get enough of manly girls and girly men] and wondering if the manga substoryline and the fact that dude is totally gay for Asuka will be used in an awesome manner or not.

I am not caught up on fandoms. On anime/manga, I think I'm about at 2005 on average. Series I need to see include Eva,yes, but I have seen the 1st season of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, read up to volume 18 of Full Metal Alchemist, etc.

On American TV, I haven't seen Glee, am about 1 or 2 seasons behind on the Office, haven't seen Buffy at all, ever....

On video games and comics, hopelessly uncaught up. Due to the fact I've got no next gen systems.

I think I get behind on entertainment as it seems to require some sort of organization to prioritize what you want to watch, etc. I wonder how those folks who live twitter every episode of every show do it.

I'm stupidly proud of...

getting people to post Fruits Basket examples for Memetic sex god. I was the one who added everyone's whipped for Akito...

I'm also proud that I managed to get volume 1 of Otamen and Sunshine Sketch and volume 3 of Suppli for $6 shipped. But sadly, I need to get volume 2 of Suppli. The color pages at the front of Sunshine Sketch really impressed me. My opinion of Yen Press has improved- especially with the addition of Yotsuba! to their stable of titles.

Behind again

I didn't know Terry Prachett was writing a new Discworld novel, but I guess he was, because look at this.

Then again, I still haven't seen any of Buffy the Vampire Slayer...

Finished the Big Book of Bone

Today I finished the big book of Bone. 13 years of comics for $30... I liked that through everything, Phoney was always the same. In an epic story sprawling thousands of years, and full of stuff about the world of dreams, it's good to see that you can always rely on Phoney's wacky schemes. You can also rely on Thorn to rush off blindly and somehow be alright too.

I found the big book of Bone hidden between some super hero comics in the library. I remembered a small bit of Bone that I had bought back in high school, back when I went to a comic shop, instead of doing the efficient thing and ordering everything from amazon.

I find floppy comics a big problem- $3 for maybe 40 pages, when I can get 200 pages for $10? Just say no. BTW: I think they should start collecting Castle Waiting volume 2.

School Days

Tons of anime spoilers here! And trigger warning too. The thing I like best about School Days is that everyone is competing all out for a worthless prize. At the end, most of the girls realize that. Makoto's childhood friend and that random girl who has the hots for Taisuke are like 'you're an asshole, goodbye'. Those three girls that screwed Makoto's attitude was "Eh, we only screwed him because all the cool kids were doing it. Hey, let's go and fuck your boyfriend, random girl!"

Only Sekai and Katsura were still fighting over this worthless dude. Although maybe the bullying Katsura endured, and the fact that it really looks like that asshole Taisuke raped her, helped push her over the edge, although I still think murdering Seikai and carrying around Makoto's severed head was a bit much. I know that high school SEEMS like a big deal, but if the police existed in this world[or teachers, people's parents or any authority figures whatsoever],everyone would be in big trouble, what with all the sleeping with the whole school, secretly video taping people having sex in school areas, and of course, the whole murder thing.

But then again, the end really cements the point that all of this was worthless. Being a severed head's girlfriend is nothing to brag about.

Suppli Lives

Yes! Suppli! I enjoy manga that shows the lives of women over the age of 16. I wish someone would pick up Hotaru no Hikari. Many manga lovers are growing up. I still love shoujo manga, but the lives of teens have become less interesting to me. I love Fruits Basket, but I'm more interested in the older characters. I loved Tramps like Us and Happy Mania because they are more in tune with the issues in my life, such as everyone getting married around me.

MANGA BUSINESS

Wow, 700 titles out of print. and many in limbo. I've glad to see that 12 kingdoms will still be being released, although it is sad that Tramps like Us[aka Kimi wa Pet] which is a classic is out of print now.

Seriously, this has a much bigger impact on comics than Disney buying Marvel. No titles are going out of print or being stopped in production because Marvel gets a lot of cash from Disney.
