Really, its the livejournal community where they crossover with other F_W fandoms, and I've found that livejournal comics fans are a lot less wanky than non-livejournal comics fans. The real comics wank happens on message boards, Blogger blogs, and lettercols -- places where the Fandom_Wank community fears to tread.
