Complaining About Tropes You Don't Like

Really folks, renaming Colony Drop is not necessary. A peeve of mine is that some folks want to rename every single anime reference on the wiki. Now, some references are opaque and silly. I wouldn't name a trope The Shigure to refer to a character that has a fetish for sticking his dick in the crazy, as even many Fruits Basket fans[i.e. the anime only ones] have no idea that he loves sticking his dick in the crazy.

We don't want to be as obscure as that, but part of the fun of the wiki is learning new stuff. I don't know who Xanatos is, but I managed to learn by reading the description. Clarity in titles is good, but we shouldn't eliminate all character or work inspired trope names, or anything that refers to anime or manga. The sort of person who hasn't heard of Discworld or needs excessive explanation to understand what a Colony Drop might be probably isn't the sort of person who reads tvtropes.

Type A and B

I'm type A simply because I find it very hard to be interested in characters that nothing ever happens to. It's way easier to appreciate the finer points of character if they are facing the Big Bad, dealing with their crush on Susie Q or in general doing something other than being "The Token Loli", "The Tall One" or "The Booblicious One". There's only so much moe and wacky hijinks I can take before screaming WILL SOMETHING PLEASE HAPPEN?!

Josei Thoughts

As I've been reading Hotaru No Hikari and sighing that only 5 volumes are translated out of the 15, I've been thinking that josei titles are more likely to become dramas than anime. Hotaru no Hikari, Kimi Wa Pet[Tramps Like Us], Happy Mania... all of those have become dramas. Nodame no Cantible was an anime though... I guess maybe a drama would be more popular with their demographic.

Too bad the demographic of manga in the US hasn't grown as much. As a mid twenties woman, I want less panty shots and more josei...

Akkan Baby

or two idiots with BURNING PASSION have a baby. Slapstick and random prolifery[which really seems odd when coming from their ROCK IDOLS] ensues. Overall lighthearted with some extremely random soap opera moments.

I read random manga

Teacher/Student romance! How kawaii desu, ne? Luckily, this series has the good sense to show some consequences. Our student drops out of school, and our teacher gets fired, since it's actually not cool to be doing it with the students. This one is only one volume, with two chapters translated so far.

I thought I was hardcore!

Sadly, at today's con, I learned I was about as hardcore as something not hardcore. I learnt that us Memphis gamers are all wimps, as in Maryland, children start playing Settlers at age 5, and by age 12, are playing Axis and Allies. My idea of an intense gaming session is 3 3 hour games, so my wussiness is noted.

Also, the cosplayers were hard core. From people wearing bikinis in 20 degree weather to period correct fairies with a spray of greenery for wings, the hardcoreness impressed me.
