Masturbating in the Mirror

Ha Ha Ha, No!

The reason why we can't 'tolerate diverse stories' is that basing a fic off your real life because THE MAIN CHARACTER IS OMG, SO MUCH LYKE ME! is just asking for Mary Suedom. The reason people don't like that sort of story is that if you have to say 'it's based off of my real life', it's crap. If you can't justify your plot internal to the story or at least from canon, do a rewrite. If we can't tell, you've succeeded. But for god's sake, I don't care HOW funny your little friends at school are. Really!

In other news, the central library in Memphis is where they keep their manga. They seem to have at least 20 volumes of Prince of Tennis. I'll start on that. I already checked out Megatokyo. Very, very, pleased. I'm still working my way through Full Metal Alchemist, and hope to write up some ship manifestos some day.

I'm begging you please!

Warn for AU. I like fanfiction, but I'm not a 14 year old girl, so the idea SO LYKE, EVERYONE IS IN HIGHSCHOOL!!! AND LYKE, THEY ARE ALL VAMPIRES!!! does not strike me as something that I would like to click on unaware.

Romance lovers whine because someone wants more gen. It's not like one person wanting more gen is going to stop romance fics from being written. And also, I get that person's point. Twu wuv is not the only thing to write about. Heck, for many characters friendship or family might be more important to them. Maybe they are driven by a mission. Maybe they are worried about aliens blowing up Chicago more than their love lives. It *could* happen.

For heaven's sake

I wish folks would lighten up on fanficrants. Really, not all of us live in sparkly poo land in which all dudes wear enough makeup to kill a horse, who can take a 12 inch dildo with no pain and who deep throat on first try and whose penises ejaculate ice cream instead of semen. If you live in sparkly poo land, that's fine, but really, in most canons, people don't live in sparkly poo land. Blushing schoolboys who get all embarrassed about kissing are not likely sex gods, military men who live in the trenches probably wait til after battle to get the mascara and blush out, and yes, most people *would* notice if your average office worker sprouted wings. Really.

And by the way? I don't care about your kink. If you can't sell your kink to me, make me believe that this situation is plausible, well, suck it up and learn to write.

Another fanfiction review

This Akihiko/Mitsuru story is a bit sappy in parts, but otherwise well written. I prefer the two of them as friends, but this story managed to sell them as romantic partners.

More I like this fic

I like this fic because it's not so much a pairing fic so the relationship does not have to be distorted. I thought Yukari went on a few sentences too long about the Arcana, but I enjoyed the integration of gameplay into the story here. Not forgetting that we spend a massive part of the game in a giant tower killing shadows instead of trying to hump our team members.

People discuss the pressure to write porn in fanfiction. I'm taking prudery back. It's OK to have boundaries. I don't want to write guro, for example. If that becomes the new fandom trend, and not writing it makes me a prude, sign me up for the prudery olympics then. And really, sometimes your characters have to get out of bed and advance the plot, or you end up with magical vagina syndrome, in which you have to make up some reason why all this sex advances the plot.

Richie reviews the worst comic ever made. Not only is the art stiff and unimpressive, the story is a bunch of whining about how girls only want jerks.

Also, het drabble challenge!

I'm really glad that I used to aspire to be a real writer, because I can't conceive of being too fragile for some concrit. It's not your baby, it's not you, it's some words you wrote, and sometimes they are less good than other times you write.

I wonder if Douglas Adams would enjoy this fic as well.

Also, I'm getting back into Crimson Hero. I was worried that the romance would over power the sport, but I think I'll give it a few volumes[I'm on vol 8] to see if it keeps that great sports energy or whether it peters out into will she or won't she with only a sports backdrop. I'm hoping that Skip Beat has more acting competition pieces as well- I'm nearly current, with volume 16 being needed.

I adore this fanfiction. There's nothing I like more than making the dark implications of a canon explicit.

Lolita!Sues... You're not your fucking Baby the Stars Shine Bright!

I can't find Suppli! volume 2 at either Borders or Barnes and Noble. I also am enjoying the back story about Luba's family in Human Diastrophism[sp?].

This fanfiction makes me think of the difficulty of writing after curse Akito. I prefer broken Akito to healthy!Akito but just as long as she's plausibly healthy, I can read it. Personally, my theory is that Akito has a personality disorder, and probably won't get better just because of a lack of curses. But I have a negative outlook on the human condition.

Lately, I'm been obsessed with Axis Powers Hetalia. Italy is my favorite[southern Italy, of course!] and I laugh about France a lot.
